What’s Next for Health Care in California?

August 30, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Fat? Skinny? Something in between? Please join us for a discussion of work that IRLE researchers are doing on America’s health care system. What might upcoming reforms look like? And with national reform so uncertain, what are the next steps for health care here in California?

Ken Jacobs chairs the Labor Center at IRLE. His recent research has included impact studies on proposed minimum wage increases and analyses of the public cost of low-wage work. He also leads a multi-campus program providing research and technical assistance to consumer stakeholders and policy makers on the effects of the Affordable Care Act and measures to cover the remaining uninsured in California. Along with colleagues at UC Berkeley and UCLA, he is consulting for Covered California on issues related to ACA implementation.

Laurel Lucia directs the Labor Center’s Health Care Program, where she has studied the economic impacts on California of Affordable Care Act repeal, California’s Medicaid expansion, health insurance for California immigrants, and the remaining uninsured in California. Previously, Laurel worked on issues affecting health care workers as a researcher and policy analyst for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
